An incredibly beautiful Art Deco style vintage ring we believe to mid-century made circa 1950.
The ring features two glorious royal blue rectangular step cut sapphires, well matched in colour and with a total weight of 1.83cts. The sapphires are flanked by baguette and round cut diamonds of a total approximate weight of 0.28cts.
This ring is really incredibly special and oozes Gatsby are glamour, despite being a slightly later piece. The vibrant deep blue of the sapphires really draws the eye while the bright, clear diamonds sat on the wings soften the boldness of the centre stones.
All stones sit in a fabulous openwork setting that is 1.9cm wide and 1.1cm long. The shape is very flattering and elongates the finger. Size wise, this is a UK size K but we are very happy to resize for you if this is too small.
The shank and mount of this ring are in great condition with only a small amount of thinning to the bottom of the band. The shank is not hallmarked (it was not compulsory when this ring was made) but is stamped ‘W18’ for 18ct white gold.
The sapphires are in lovely condition with only minimal abrasions to the facet edges in keeping with the age. There is a small surface reaching inclusion in one stone, most probably from it receiving a knock at some point. It is very small though, and presents as a tiny discoloured patch only noticeable if you look for it – it does not affect the durability or pose any risk to this stone at all.
The other sapphire exhibits beautiful natural growth lines under loupe examination which is always nice to see. We would assume, like the vast majority of blue sapphires on the market, that these stones have undergone some heat treatment to improve the colour. All diamonds are bright and lively.
The perfect ring for the lover of vintage jewels, and delivered quickly in a luxury modern ring box (last pic).
