This ring is absolutely stunning, make no mistake about it. It’s the most romantic ring of them all and a style we adore here at Chains of Gold: the toi et moi. The two diamonds denote two souls side by side, and this particularly lovely example also carries a French inscription ‘Fernand a Marie 1 Janvier 1903’. How utterly wonderful!
The old mine cut diamonds in this ring total 0.66cts in weight, with further diamond chip embellishments to the shoulders. The two main stones are of excellent colour and clarity, no damage to facet edges, no chips and no obvious inclusions visible under loupe inspection. A lot of love, care and money went into this ring in 1903, and we are certain Marie was over the moon with it when it was presented to her. It’s certainly been very well looked after and treated as the piece of treasure it is.
The shank on this ring is solid and all claws are in tact – overall it’s in great condition for its 116 year age. The ring comes in UK size L.5 and we do not recommend resizing; changing the band size will remove that most important inscription which is part of the rings heritage.
Given the ring’s romantic connotations, we think it would make a fabulous engagement ring or love token for the modern day Marie! The old case we have photographed the ring in is just for display, and it will arrive in a luxury modern ring box instead, cleaned and ready to present.
Delivery is fast and free via Royal Mail.
